SCALLOPS with pork is a popular combination featured on many restaurant menus around Perth.
Having tried a variety of these, my boyfriend and I declared White Salt’s incarnation a triumph.
Served with a sweet, jammy apple compote, creamy cauliflower puree and red wine reduction, this dish can turn an ordinary weeknight into something special.
White Salt’s creative and alluring menu is the work of head chef David Thornton.
He changes the menu quarterly to make use of fresh, local produce when possible and the winter menu had just been launched when we dined.
It features hearty options such as rabbit and mushroom pie, roasted duck breast and pork loin medallions with sage cider cream.
The latter two were as delicious as they were well presented, with each element working to complement the hero of the dish.
A fixed price lunch for $36 is proving popular and represents exceptional value for money.
White Salt’s high quality of food along with standard of service from the attentive and polite staff makes it a stand-out on the coastal strip.
However, also notable is the emphasis, by owners Tim and Claire Leech, on providing an unpretentious, friendly and comfortable environment in which to soak it up.
