Zzzzzzzz

It’s amazing how much sleep has gone up on my priority list lately.

Everything that’s going on with my body leaves a slight background tiredness that can be thrown into full blown exhaustion with the merest change to my sleep pattern.

This week it was my own fault – I had the first game (coaching) of the hockey season, which finished at about 9pm (the girls lost 2-1, but put in an awesome effort) and it kept going through my head well into the night.

By Wednesday, I was staring at the computer screen at work wondering what it was for.

I went home at 2pm because I had some spare hours up my sleeve and slept.

Taking time off to sleep would never have crossed my mind in the past and it was kind of hard to bring myself to do this time too.

I was going to use that time to shop for the baby.

I’ve also been having weird dreams.

And before anyone jumps to conclusions, I don’t mean those dreams (although I do get my fair share of them too).

Last night I dreamt about zombies. Yep, that’s right, zombies.

Kind of a 28 Days Later thing where we were running away from them.

I found a reference in What to Expect When You’re Expecting, saying that dreams of being attacked could mean I’m dealing with increased feelings of vulnerability.

I suppose that could be true. I’m not really built for fight or flight right now.

It could also be about joke hubby made in the supermarket the other day when spaghetti sauce was on sale and I piled in half a dozen jars.

“Are we stocking up for when the zombies invade?” he asked.

On the other side of the coin, I have a recurring dream that leaves me smiling for the whole day.

I’m sitting in the cool morning light nursing my baby and just looking at her.
