A WILLETTON traffic warden was last week attacked and injured for a third time while working at a local primary school.

On April 4 last year, Peter Judge, who turns 75 in May, was finishing his morning crossing duties at Rostrata Primary School in Willetton, when four males drove past in a sedan.

An occupant of the car threw a beer bottle at Mr Judge, hitting him on the head.

“The impact almost made me pass out and they were just laughing their heads off,” he told the Canning Times at the time.

“The bottle was full of dirt to weigh it down. It was obviously deliberate,

“If I did not have my hat on, the injury would have been much worse,” he said.

Less than a year later, on Wednesday, March 14, at 8.35am, he had a brick thrown at him.

The projectile cut his right thigh and his doctor told him he would also be left with a nasty bruise.

“I was standing at the cross walk when a car came around the corner. It drove around fast and next thing I knew the vehicle had increased its speed and a brick came flying out,” Mr Judge said.

“I think they were teenagers in a white sedan,” he said.

“When they went past they were all laughing.”

Despite the attack, Mr Judge is still prepared to go to work at the school he loves.

“The teachers and parents have given me their full support and the police have been fantastic,” he said.

“I’ll still turn up for work. I love the school, I love the kids and I like working because it is constructive and I’m helping the community.”

Two police officers visited Mr Judge on Thursday and he has made a statement at Murdoch Police Station.

This is the third time the popular senior has been attacked. In 2008, a glass was thrown at his face from a vehicle full of youths, leaving permanent scarring on his right cheek.

Inspector of State Traffic Operation Col Murray said the incident was upsetting for the entire community.

“The traffic wardens are there to wholly and solely look after our children as they cross the roads,” Insp Murray said.

Anyone with information about the offenders is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

Hope you can run with this. Yesterday i witnessed the Lollypop man being pinged by Canniing shire ranger for parking on a nearby park. This is disgraceful. He mans the crossing on Collins Rd Roundabout near Collins Park in Willetton. I contacted the shire over the incident and found them typically beligerant on the matter. Could you please do something for this chap who helps keep crossings safe for our kids hail or shine.

Whose basic fault?
It has to be the judges and magistrates.
These lowlifes do not just happen...they have been building up to this behaviour...And was the bottle kept and checked for D.N.A.
London to a brick they are on the bad boys database.
If murders can be solved with D.N.A., why not other crimes...and this is not PETTY crime.

This is totally unacceptable behaviour towards an elderly person doing a fantastic service for the kids in the area. I hope those responsible are caught and not just slapped on the wrist. Keep up the fantastic work Peter.
