DEPUTY Prime Minister Julia Gillard officially opened the world’s largest steel cord and rubber ply belt manufacturing plant in Kwinana yesterday.
Ms Gillard, Jandakot MLA Joe Francis, Fenner-Dunlop Australian executive director David Landgren and Fenner PLC London CEO Mark Abrahams attended the official opening of the $70 million Fenner-Dunlop conveyor belt manufacturing facility in Mounsey Road.
Kwinana acting Mayor Dennis Wood, CEO Neil Hartley and councillors Glen Bersan and Sandra Lee also attended.
Ms Gillard said she was pleased to be at the opening of the new Kwinana facility.
“This is a new and important facility and I offer my congratulations to Fenner-Dunlop,” she said.
Mr Landgren said the company was glad to start operations in Kwinana and thanked councillors for attending the opening.
“We are very proud to be a resident in Kwinana and, where we can, we will try to utilise the local community,” he said.
