$34,000 cricket roller dumped in lake

Comments:

WILLETTON Cricket Club will have to replace its $34,000 pitch roller after thieves broke into the curator's shed and drove the machine into a nearby lake.

It is the second time in six months the curator's shed has been targetted by thieves.

Club president Mike McGlinn said the incident happened on Friday night.

“We received a call on Saturday morning when the football club asked why our new roller was in the lake,” he said.

“It seems they (the thieves) have used a cordless drill to break into the shed and found a key to open the back door.”

“They have then started up the new roller and driven it up and down on the centre wicket and then driven it into the lake.”

“Anyone who may have seen the incident or any other burglaries that occurred in Willetton on Friday night should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” Detective Paul Emberson said.
