YOUNG women from a variety of cultural backgrounds attended Sevenoaks Senior College last week for a leadership conference.

About 80 high school students listened to inspiring women at the conference hosted by the Young Women’s Leadership Program (YWLP).

Program facilitator Alicia Curtis said the conference aimed to empower women from diverse backgrounds.

“The participants organise a conference for high school students to share their experiences and practise their leadership skills in a practical way,” she said.

“It is a great opportunity for high school students to be inspired by young women that come from similar cultural and religious backgrounds.”

YWLP participant Yee Pei Wong said the conference offered women a chance to share their experiences.

“Seeing all my peers in the program overcoming the same challenge made this enjoyable and rewarding,” she said.

The Bentley-based Muslim Women’s Support Centre hosted the YWLP conference, which is a Department of Immigration and Citizenship program.
