WHILE most of the sporting world is focused on London, there is a Morley resident who has her eyes set on 2016.
Brooke Callcot (12) is determined to represent Australia at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and has both the time and talent.
Brooke has trained at the WA Institute of Sport in the Elite Women’s Gymnastics Program at Challenge Stadium since she was just six.
Her dedication comes in handy, training for an incredible 32 hours a week, and her parents Renae and Paul have gone so far as to transfer Brooke to City Beach Primary to make travelling from training to school easier.
At the 2012 Nationals in Sydney last month, she competed in the IDP8 division for the first time, coming in first on beam, second on bars and second all around in addition to being part of the WA team which placed first.
She has been nominated in the HBF 2012 Junior Sports Star of the Year awards in the Inspirational Achievement section.
- Judges comprising representatives of Community Newspaper Group, HBF and Awards Ambassador Geoff Marsh will select winners and runners up in each of the four categories across the two divisions in January, 2013.
