SOUTH Perth’s Dean Fiore is hoping for a hometown edge when he competes in the Perth leg of the V8 Supercars Championship next month.

He will race in the Tradingpost Perth Challenge on May 4-6 at Barbagello Raceway and is keen to showcase his skill in front of his home crowd.

Fiore previously raced in the V8 Supercars with his family-owned team Triple F Racing but this year has signed with Jim Beam Racing.

“It’s been hard the past couple of years with trying to run the team and focus on racing,” he said.

“This year is different with me moving to Jim Beam Racing; now I just arrive and drive.”

Fiore said being based in Perth had its challenges.

“Air travel and the time zone differences knock me around a little but I try to arrive earlier in the week to each race to acclimatise,” he said.

Enthusiasts can meet all the drivers competing in the event at Forrest Place on May 3 from noon-1pm.

Tickets for the race start at $15. To book, visit www.ticketek.com.au
