PEEL Cycling Club champion Theo Yates continues to excel at his chosen sport, winning a bronze medal at the recent National Track Championships in Adelaide.
Theo won bronze in the under-15 2000m Individual Pursuit (eight laps) race and qualified fourth fastest (out of 21 riders) to the rider who broke the Australian sprint record two days before.
In the final, Theo kept his form, held his splits and after four laps overtook the leader to win by two seconds in 2.36.485.
He stuck with his plan and brought it home – doing 18.13secs to 19.50secs laps.
Theo improved on his personal best by four seconds in one day.
He was the only male under-15 WA rider to win a medal at Nationals.
